The Scientists

A collection of photos from the past few weeks. Craig and Pete are doing a dinosaur Lego that he got from my Aunt Bev & Uncle Bob. He's amazingly good at looking at the picture and finding the pieces he needs. Then he gts his dad's help putting them on. He and I had fun finishing the last part of a fire engine he got for Chrsitmas from Pete's Aunt Chris & Uncle Doug. Here is Mr. Cool himself wearing his sunglasses at snacktime. He has lately been doing this little dance that Pete calls the flower dance, and it cracks us up nearly to tears every time he does it. It's just so goofy. And once we start laughing, of course he really hams it up. It's funny how vocal he is at home and how shy he is in the outside world. Tonight I took the kids to a pancake dinner at school to support the baseball team. And they were pretty excited about going and all the way there Craig kept telling my how hungry he was. But when we got there and saw all the people he said, "I'm not comfortable with this AT ALL. I'm not hungry. Let's go home." He was fine, but sometimes I forget how shy he is in unfamiliar situations.

Anna has been doing really well with going on the potty. She's been dry all week at day care and is quite proud of herself. She is quite the snuggler as you can see from the photo. She still loves playing with dolls. Pete was going to take them to the store this week and she told him, "Dad, don't even ask me if I'm ready yet because I am busy changing my baby's outfit because she spit up on it and it's yucky!"

In the photo with both kids they are performing a "science experiment," called "Will it sink or will it float?" I don't think they have been secretly getting up and watching Dave Letterman (that's his schtick isn't it?) but you never know. Last time when Pete was gone I heard them plotting to come downstairs in the middle of the night. But Anna finally convinced Craig that they might fall down the stairs if they did that! The kids got placemats from my dad that have all of the presidents of the United States on them. They keep asking questions about them, who they are, which one is Abraham Lincoln, etc. Good thing I can read because I'm pretty much clueless (though I can at least identify Lincoln.)

Today at the pancake breakfast I was pretty glad that Craig's reading ability still involves only a small set of words. We went to the restroom and he asked me, "Why did someone write on the wall with permanent marker?" And "What did they write," and in response to my answer, "Tell me what bad words they wrote, Mom."
