Conversations and Questions

Heard at our house or in the car the past few weeks:

Craig: Dad, is the place we're going called Battle Creek because there were lots of wars there?

(while listening to the song "Little Bo Peep," on a CD in the car)

Anna: Why she lost her sheep?
Me: I don't know.
Anna: It's under the haystack.
Me (laughing): Really? You think that's where it is?
Anna: Yes, and I'm NOT kiddin'.

After Craig hit Anna while getting in the car (seemingly for no reason, but she's been known to kick him)

Me: Look at that red mark on Anna's eye. You really hurt her, Craig. That's terrible.
Craig: Sorry, Anna.
Anna: Sorry doesn't cut it.

While riding in the car on the way to the bookstore:

Craig: Dad, whenever you were in a hotel, and you went to dinner, did anyone ever steal your room?
Pete: Uh...no.
(pause)
Craig: A long time ago, when there were pirates, did they steal each other's rooms?

After Anna's successful potty venture:
Me: Yay! You peed in the potty! You know what that means?
Anna: I can wear underwear!
Me: You can't wear it tomorrow to day care, you have to learn how to poop in the potty first.
Anna: OK, when I'm fourteen or sixteen I prob'ly will.
