The kids in mid-November

Anna is learning all kinds of new words and is using them in short sentences of three or four words, such as, "Socks on, Mommy!" and "I do it!" and "I want yogurt." One day last week we heard Craig waking up upstairs and she pointed and said, "Go get 'im!"

We went to the Natural History Museum in Ann Arbor on Saturday and Craig was thrilled! We will have to go back again when they get the mastadon exhibit up in May. We saw an allosaurus (which is like a t-rex) skeleton and lots of other big and small dinosaur skeletons. The big hit with Anna was the dugout canoe in the Native American exhibit. They let the kids climb in it. It was fun because they had a table where they had casts of various dinosaur parts that they let the kids touch, like dinosaur teeth.

I was talking to to our sitter, Lauryn, and she was telling me how Craig wants to know EVERYTHING. (I said, "Yup, it's like that all day long!") Here is a conversation he had with Lauryn:
Setting: Lauryn turns on the TV to play "Finding Nemo." When she turn it on there is a hospital show on and a man is in a hospital bed:
Craig: What is that man in that bed?
Lauryn: He's sick.
Craig: How did he get sick?
Lauryn: He didn't eat his vegetables! [Go, Lauryn!]
Craig: He got sick because he didn't eat his vegetables?
Lauryn: Yep!
Craig: Which ones, the carrots or the peas?

They tell us at day care that Anna has the sweetest disposition there all day long. They emphasize however, that she is NOT a door mat and doesn't take kindly to other kids taking toys from her. Ah, the benefits of having an older brother.
